Yarn
Changelog

What's new

Everything that's changed in Yarn, newest first. Android updates itself; Mac, Windows and iPhone follow as they're released.

Android 0.17

The mic only listens when you ask Latest

A privacy fix for the floating bubble.

  • Fixed
    Mic off until you tap

The bubble's microphone turns on only when you tap it, and always turns off when a dictation ends, even one that fails to start or that you leave halfway.

  • Improved
    Clearer notification

“Yarn is ready” now says plainly that the mic is off until you tap the bubble.

  • Fixed
    Deletes stick

Deleting a dictation while it was syncing could occasionally bring it back.

Android 0.16All apps

Rewrite by voice and snippets

Edit text by saying what you want, and insert saved text with a word.

  • New
    Rewrite selected text by voice

Select some text, start dictating and say what to do: “make this more polite”, “turn this into bullet points”, “translate to Spanish”. Yarn replaces the selection with the result.

  • New
    Snippets

Save text you type often, like your address or a sign-off, under a short cue. Say the cue and Yarn puts the text in. Snippets sync to all your devices, and only the cue is ever sent to the AI.

  • Improved
    Better models, no update needed

Yarn picks the best transcription and writing models on its server, with an automatic backup.

  • Fixed
    Sync rough edges

Dictionary words save when you finish editing. Turning “Save history” back on brings back history from your other devices. Windows PCs can have a friendly name (Settings → Account).

Free trial, and an easier sign-in

Getting started takes a minute and no card.

  • New
    7-day free trial

New accounts start with a free trial, no card needed.

  • Improved
    Sign in with a code

A 6-digit code from your email. No passwords and no links to click.

  • Improved
    Your spelling by default

Australian, British or American spelling now starts from your device's region.

  • New
    “Try saying” examples

Suggestions throughout the apps showing what Yarn can do.
